An Urdu teleprompter that follows your voice

Read Urdu with on-device voice following, right-to-left layout and a Nastaliq typeface in Cuefyr. Set it up on Windows or Mac, prepare your script and check the current language limits before presenting.

What Urdu voice following does

Cuefyr listens to your microphone and matches your speech to the script. The text moves at your pace, waits when you pause and re-anchors when you repeat a line. You can use it for a prepared presentation, lesson, video narration or rehearsal without setting a fixed scroll speed.

It is desktop software for Windows and Mac. You need a microphone and the Urdu speech pack. It does not translate your script or generate a voice: prepare the words you intend to say and read them yourself.

Set up Urdu in Cuefyr

  1. Install Cuefyr and finish first-run setup

Download the app from the official download section. Complete the initial English speech-pack download while online. The first-run guide explains the setup.

  2. Download the Urdu pack

Open Settings, General, Script language and choose Urdu. Download its language pack from Settings and wait for it to finish. You can cancel a download there and check for pack updates later.

  3. Prepare the script and microphone

Paste or import a plain-text script in Urdu script. In Settings, Devices, select your microphone. Keep the spoken language and the Script language setting aligned.

  4. Open the script in the prompter

The language change applies the next time you open a script in the prompter, not during an existing read. Open it after selecting Urdu, then press Start and wait for the countdown.

  5. Rehearse a short passage

Read a few lines, pause and repeat a sentence. Check that the line follows you before recording or presenting live. If it does not, confirm the selected language, installed pack and microphone before retrying.

Prepare readable Urdu script text

Paste editable Urdu text, rather than an image of a page. Cuefyr displays Urdu right to left in a Nastaliq typeface, and Urdu scripts start aligned to the right. Adjust the font size and text width for your own screen and reading distance.

After pasting, check punctuation, numbers and any English names. Mixed-direction text can be harder to follow visually, so rehearse those lines. Roman Urdu is not a separate supported language mode; use Urdu script with Urdu selected in Settings.

A short practice script

السلام علیکم۔ آج ہم ایک نئے خیال کے بارے میں بات کریں گے۔

[pause] آئیے، اسے ایک مثال سے سمجھتے ہیں۔

Stage directions such as [pause] and [smile] stay visible but are skipped by voice tracking. Use them for your own delivery reminders. The script-writing guide explains the supported formatting.

Use the script near your camera

Use Float to place Cuefyr over the app you are presenting in. Adjust the font size, text width, opacity and read-line position until you can read comfortably near the lens. For a beam-splitter rig, use Mirror in the prompter controls.

Before an OBS recording or screen-shared call, check the capture preview. Full-screen or full-display capture can include the prompter; capture the intended camera or app window instead. See the OBS guide for a concrete setup.

Offline use and language limits

Once the speech packs are installed, Urdu voice following runs on your computer and can work offline. Downloads and updates need internet access. Pro licence checks use the network when available; the speech itself is processed locally.

Select one script language for a read. Mid-sentence English and Urdu code-switching is not a supported feature to rely on. Rehearse names, acronyms and borrowed English terms in your actual script rather than assuming they will all track correctly.

Filler-word detection and related English text metrics are not available for Urdu reads. Language support for voice following does not mean every coaching metric supports every language. Recognition can also vary with pronunciation, background noise and microphone quality.

Urdu teleprompter questions

Does Cuefyr support right-to-left Urdu and Nastaliq?

Yes. Cuefyr displays Urdu right to left in a Nastaliq typeface, and Urdu scripts start aligned to the right. Select Urdu and install its speech pack for voice following.

Can I read Roman Urdu?

Roman Urdu is not a separate supported voice-following mode. Use Urdu script with Urdu selected in Settings, and test a short passage before recording.

Can I switch between Urdu and English mid-sentence?

Mid-sentence English and Urdu code-switching is on the roadmap, not a supported feature to rely on. Select one script language before opening the read.

Can I use the Urdu teleprompter offline?

Yes, after the required speech packs are installed. Voice recognition runs on your computer. Internet access is needed for pack downloads and updates; Pro licence checks use it when available.

Does the coaching report count Urdu filler words?

No. Filler-word detection and related English text metrics are not available for Urdu reads. Their absence is not evidence that a take contained no fillers.
